MATERNITY REFLEXOLOGY

On my level 5 reflexology mastership course I had already completed a specialist subject on pregnancy. Mauricio Kruchik is from Israel and he teaches his reflexology for pregnancy and birth course all over the world. In June 2018 I was lucky enough to secure a place on his course when he came to the UK. The course was very informative and I learnt quick and effective protocols on treating various pregnancy conditions.

Reflexology is safe throughout all three trimesters. It can be used to prime you for the birth and then help re-balance you after the birth.

THE THREE TRIMESTERS

  • It is extremely relaxing

  • Can calm your anxiety

  • Helps your body adjust to the hormonal changes taking place throughout your pregnancy

  • Special protocols are uses for morning sickness, symphysis pubis discomfort, constipation, backache, hemorrhoids, carpal tunnel syndrome, oedema, heartburn, fatigue or anaemia, fear and anxiety.

PRIMING FOR THE BIRTH

There is no evidence that reflexology induces labour. What it does is relaxes the whole body. This could be all that’s needed to bring on labour. During the last few weeks of pregnancy certain reflexes are stimulated. This helps your body prepare for the birth and enhances the relaxation.

POSTNATAL

Reflexology can be very beneficial during the first 6 weeks of birth.

  • It is extremely relaxing

  • Helps rebalance your hormones

  • Helps with lactation (production of milk)

  • Helps recovery process of medical procedures e.g. caesarean

  • Can calm your anxiety

  • Helps with postnatal blues and depression
